Getting Started

This semester I will use this blog site to post information and ideas about my senior project for interior design. I welcome any comments, suggestions, and criticism that will aid me in my journey through the design process.

About the Project:

The project to be designed is a Student Learning Commons in Fayetteville, AR with an emphasis on the University of Arkansas science and engineering college.  The building is currently used as a lease retail space for technology-intensive companies including office space and laboratories.  The facility is 35,000 square feet, located in the University of Arkansas technology Park, and is two stories with each floor containing approximately 17,500 square feet.  Spaces will include a computer lab, small library, cafe, classrooms, presentation area, study spaces, and conference areas.

The goal for this project is to unite the students within the science and engineering college on campus with the graduate programs and innovative businesses conducted within the Technology Park.   By providing a space for undergraduate students within the park, awareness will be raised as to the educational opportunity that the park provides as well as networking opportunities within the professional fields.

This will be a full service project including programming, construction documents, renderings, and a full materials palette.
