On the Side

Along with studio this semester, I am also taking a real estate finance and appraisal class.  As a group we were given an assignment to propose a new real estate development project in the area; We chose to open up a Smoke's poutinerie in Fayetteville in honor of my recent trip to Canada and new found obsession with poutine.

For those of you who aren't sure what poutine is, take a look....

Do we need one of these if Fayetteville or what?!

The assignment involved completing all the financial documents and paperwork that would be involved in the opening of a new franchise including any demolition and construction... of course as a group with three interior design girls, we went a step further and decided to show what the inside of the building could potentially look like, Yay for using those new revit skills!

It was fun getting to follow through a project from start to finish in so much detail.  As the investors, we had a lot of information to make up in terms of our net worth individually, but I still learned a lot about how to fund a project and how to determine if something is a good investment or not... Yay for a lesson in budget!

Circulation Perspective with Photoshop (Outside of Library)
I still need to figure out how to eliminate the original lights from Revit.

Practice renderings

Library Perspective

I need to add more finishes and lights and tone down the outdoor lights, but all furniture, ceiling details, and columns are in place and ready to go!

Circulation Perspective (Outside of Library)
This one is pretty close to being done. I need to photoshop in the actual light fixtures, light the ceiling, and add accessories.

Computer Lab Perspective
This perspective needs quite a bit of work still.  More materials, lighting, and accessories, but it is coming along.

Charrette Series : #4 Library

Idea #1

Idea #2

                                                            Inspiration and Furniture

Charrette Series : #3 Cafe

Idea #1
In this layout, a large group area would be centered in the middle of the space with smaller group and individual seating around the perimeter.
Seating along the windows would be low profile in order to maximize the view out the windows and use of natural lighting.

Idea #2
In this approach I kept the overall idea of a large group space in the middle with smaller arrangement to the perimeter, but I switched the banquet seating along the windows to tables and took out the circular element in the middle.

Idea #3
In this final scheme I wanted to see what happens when I put the order counter in the middle. I think this would work well because the food served in this cafe would be prepackaged snacks in the display cases and bakery items such as bagels muffins.  Therefore they wouldn't need to be traveling between the kitchen and the order counter very often.
